Saab J-37 Viggen - Swedish single-engine multipurpose fighter with duck-shaped blades. Design work on the machine began in 1964, and the prototype flight took place on February 8, 1967. Several major versions of this successful aircraft were produced. The AJ-37 Viggen was developed with a large contribution of American technology and expertise as part of an agreement on cooperation and exchange of military technology between the two governments. This agreement was part of a security guarantee given by the US government to officially neutral Sweden. In response, the US government requested the protection of UGM-27 Polaris submarines with a nuclear warhead along the west coast of Sweden. Consequently, the Viggen was developed faster and at lower costs than if it had been developed solely in Sweden. The first attack fighter was put into service. The letters of the designation AJ come from Attack Jakt - assault hunting. The AJ 37 had seven weapons suspension assemblies, two under the wings, two in the air intakes and one central under the fuselage, which could also be fitted with a fuel tank. There was still room on the panels for two additional suspension points, which, however, were not used. Another version is the SF-37 Viggen, a photo reconnaissance and reconnaissance vehicle. The flight took place in 1973. Another version is the SH-37 maritime reconnaissance aircraft. A typical fighter is the JA-37 Viggen model, which was flown in 1974. It has a more powerful engine and - like the only Viggen - a weapon for continuous shooting. The only user of Viggen is the Swedish military. Technical characteristics (JA-37 version): length: 16.4 m, wingspan: 10.6 m, height: 5.9 m, maximum speed: 2230 km / h, rate of climb: 203 m / s, practical ceiling : 18,800 m, maximum range: 2,000 km, armament: stationary - 1 Oerlikon gun cal.30 mm, suspended - up to 6,000 kg of cargo.
