Assembled model Warship Hatsuyuki Destroyer Tamiya 31404
Construction of the improved Fubuki-class destroyers was authorized as part of the Imperial Japanese Navy's expansion program from fiscal year 1923, designed to give Japan a quality advantage with the most modern ships in the world. [3] The Fubuki class had characteristics that were a quantum leap from previous destroyer designs, so much so that they were designated Special Type Destroyers (特型, Tokugata). Large size, powerful engines, high speed, long range and unprecedented armament gave these destroyers firepower comparable to the firepower of many light cruisers of other fleets [4]. Hatsuyuki, built on the base of the Maizuru Naval Arsenal, was laid down on April 12, 1926, launched on September 29, 1928, and commissioned on March 30, 1929 [5]. The hull was originally designated Destroyer No. 37, but was completed by Hatsuyuki.
