Prefab model 1/24 car Toyota Corolla Levin AE92 1989 Spa 24 hours NuNu PN24016 The 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps was revived for touring cars in 1964 and gained popularity among motorsport enthusiasts as a summer tradition in Europe. Japanese manufacturers, like many drivers, have challenged a variety of vehicles since the 1970s and 1980s. In 1989, a Toyota Corolla Levin competing in the Group A Touring Car Race in Japan challenged three Japanese drivers, Hideshi Matsuda, Morio Nitta and Kaori Okamoto, an actress at the time, which attracted many people's attention. In qualifying, the team overcame the qualifying session in 2'54.83 and started the 24-hour battle in 33rd place. Car No. 34 was a Toyota Corolla Levin Group A specification model, a small sports car that at the time competed in touring car racing in Japan. It was a 2WD FF with a naturally aspirated, fuel-injected inline-four engine mounted in the front. Corolla Levin was born in 1972 as a sports model among Toyota's family cars, with a 1.6-liter engine on a compact body. Corolla Levin actively participated in road races, as well as in rallies. The AE92 Corolla Levin debuted in 1987 and changed from the front-engine rear-wheel drive (FR) 2WD system to front-engine 2WD (FF). The Group A-spec Corolla Levin AE92 fought fiercely against a car in the same class as the Honda Civic in Japan's Touring Car races and livened up the race. On July 23, 1989, the long 24-hour Spa-Francorchamps battle in Belgium was drawing to a close. The #34 Toyota Corolla Levin AE92 held strong on course to finish 12th overall and 3rd in class. The difference with the top is 49 laps.
