Eduard 84180 1/48 assembly model of MiG-21SMT Weekend edition aircraft

Mikoyan - Gurevich MIG-21 (NATO: Fishbed) - Soviet light fighter of duralumin semi-hull design, in a mid-plan layout, with a triangular blade with a slope of 57 degrees. The flight of the prototype took place on June 16, 1956. The E-5 prototype with the RD-11 engine is considered the prototype of the MIG-21. After his flight, several more prototypes were created, which, by the way, broke various international flight speed records. The experience gained from them was used to improve the E-5, and finally in 1959 the aircraft was sent into serial production as the MIG-21F-13. There are more than a dozen basic modifications in production, and together with various diversions, the number of types of MIG 21 can be counted by several dozen! The most important of them is the first serial MiG-21F. It replaced the MIG-21PF version with the RP-21 radar and the R-11F2 engine. The next development option is the MiG-21R, i.e. reconnaissance aircraft. Several training modifications were also created, the first of which is the MiG-21U-400. The MiG-21 turned out to be a very successful design, with excellent characteristics, easy to pilot and cheap to manufacture. The quality of the design is evidenced by the fact that in the 90s there were experienced versions of this aircraft, which was more than 30 years old. The car was exported to all countries of the former Warsaw Pact and to many Arab and African countries. The MiG-21 participated in most of the armed conflicts of the 1960-1980s, including the Vietnam War, the Six-Day War (1967), and the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988). Technical data: length: 13.46m, wingspan: 7.15m, height: 4.1m, maximum speed: 2130km/h, rate of climb: 120m/s, maximum range: 1100km, maximum ceiling 19000m, single 23-mm GSh-23 gun (version M), suspended - up to 2000 kg of cargo.
