The Mitsubishi Lancer is a Japanese passenger car, originally in the lower-middle class and now in the middle class, manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. The car was first unveiled to the public in 1972 at the Tokyo Motor Show. Production began a year later and continues to this day for the Taiwanese and Chinese markets. During this period, it was manufactured in several cities around the world, including Kurashiki in Japan, Normal in the United States, and Taoyuan in Taiwan. The Lancer model was developed and put into production with the aim of expanding Mitsubishi Motors’ commercial lineup, as well as to fill a gap in that lineup that had formed between the Minica (a kei car designed for the Japanese market) and the Galant models, that is, mid-size and upper-mid-size cars.
