M-ATV MRAP is a modern American wheeled armored vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with one C7 diesel engine with a capacity of 370 hp. The vehicle can be armed with various weapons models, including: 7.62 mm M240 machine gun, 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun or 40 mm Mk.19 grenade launcher.
The M-ATV was developed by Oshkosh Corporation for the US Armed Forces in 2008, which was looking for a new light all-terrain vehicle for its infantry units operating in Afghanistan. The M-ATV replaced the M1113 HMMWV in the vehicle line. The new vehicle was designed with the greatest possible mobility and providing the crew with a high level of safety from so-called land mines. Finally, the M-ATV was developed on a modified MTVR truck chassis and is capable of withstanding a mine or so-called mortar explosion with a carrying capacity of 10 kg of TNT. Its design was based on the experience gained from the operation of vehicles such as the Cougar. The vehicle is also characterized by good performance, especially maximum speed, and a large range. Several variants of this vehicle were created during the production process, such as the M-ATV Command (a command vehicle with extensive electronic and communications equipment), the M-ATV Utility (a vehicle) or the M-ATV Special Process (a vehicle adapted to the needs of special forces). M-ATVs are used or have been used by the armed forces of several countries, including Croatia, Portugal, Poland and Saudi Arabia.
