Assembly model 1:35 tank Pz.Kpfw.VI Sd.Kfz.182 Tiger II (Henschel 105mm) Hobby Boss 84559

In early October 1942, plans were considered for the production of the VK 45.03. Two designs were initially proposed, one from Henschel and the other from Porsche. Both used the Krupp turret design; the main differences were in the hull, transmission and suspension design. The Henschel version used a traditional hull design with sloping armour, reminiscent of the Panther tank layout. It had a rear-mounted engine and nine overlapping running boards on each side, mounted on transverse torsion bars, similar to the original Tiger. However, to simplify maintenance, the wheels were overlapped rather than staggered as on the Tiger.
