The KTO Rosomak is a Polish 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle based on the Finnish Patria AMV, which is widely used by the Polish Armed Forces. During its deployment in Afghanistan, the vehicles were heavily modified to counter threats such as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). ISAF variants such as the Rosomak-M1 and M1M were fitted with additional steel-composite armour, which increased protection but reduced their amphibious capabilities due to the increased weight. A key upgrade was the installation of an RPGNet anti-RPG cage/net mounted on the sides and rear of the vehicle. This system disrupts the functioning of RPG warheads before detonation, significantly improving survivability. Afghan variants also included electronic countermeasures, improved communications systems, and additional situational awareness equipment such as cameras and fire detection systems.
