The Kawanishi E7K was a Japanese mixed-type metal-wing reconnaissance seaplane for ships during World War II. The crew consisted of three people. The prototype flew in February 1933, and the machine entered mass production that same year. The E7K replaced the older E5K1 in the line. Two versions of this very successful aircraft were created. The first, equipped with a 600 hp Hiro Type 91 engine, was called the E7K1. The production series consisted of 183 machines of this version. The second, designated the E7K2, was equipped with a 900 hp Mitsubishi Zuisei 11 engine, which significantly improved the characteristics, and also had slightly different dimensions than the previous version. 347 copies were produced. Both versions were manufactured by Kawanishi Kokuki KK in Nauru and Nippon Hikoki KK in Tomioka. Technical data (version E7K2): length: 10.5 m, wingspan: 14 m, height: 4.85 m, maximum speed: 275 km/h, maximum flight range: 1850 km, maximum ceiling 7060 m, armament: stationary - 3 Type 92 machine guns of .7.7 mm caliber, overhead - up to 120 kg of bombs.
