The L118 light towed 105 mm howitzer was developed by the British in 1968 to replace the M1 howitzer. Serial production began in 1974. These types of guns were used by the British Army in the wars in the Falklands Islands, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2002, the L118 was equipped with a modern APS system, which relies on satellite data and can automatically fire from the L118 battery. The L118 made extensive use of light metal alloys, which led to a significant reduction in the weight of the gun. Thanks to this, the howitzer can be transported by air using a Puma helicopter. The L118 proved to be very durable and capable of continuous fire for a long time. The American version of the L118 is the M119 howitzer. Technical data: range: 17200 m, caliber: 105 mm, combat weight: 1860 kg, rate of fire: up to 8 rounds/min, initial projectile velocity: 708 m/s.
