The North American F-100 Super Saber was one of the first supersonic aircraft to enter service with the US Air Force and was the direct successor to the F-86. The F-100 was characterized by an all-metal construction, a large slanted layout of the middle plane, and a classic horizontal wing. Initially, the project that led to the creation of the F-100 was only supposed to be a modification of the F-86, but as a result, as a result of tests and tests in wind tunnels, the decision was made to create a new aircraft. The flight of the prototype YF-100A took place in 1953, and a year later the machine entered service under the designation F-100A as an air superiority fighter. This version turned out to be very unsuccessful, as a result of accidents and disasters, almost 50% of the machines of this version were lost. After the problems were fixed, especially after the replacement of the tail fin, the subsequent C and D series became much less defective. Both options were to act as fighter-bombers. The two-seater version of the F-100F was presented almost simultaneously with the single-seater and was supposed to perform mainly a training role. Due to the increased cabin for two people, the fuselage was lengthened, which, however, did not significantly affect the characteristics. After all, the F-100F not only performed a training role, but was also widely used in combat conditions, especially during the Vietnam conflict, when, as part of the "Wild Grace" unit, it carried out numerous strikes on North Vietnam's air defense positions. F-100F was baptized in the skies of Vietnam in November 1965. The F-100 was also exported to Taiwan, France, Denmark and Turkey. A total of 2,294 copies of the F-100 of all modifications were built. Technical data (F-100D version): Maximum speed: 1,390 km/h, rate of climb: 114 m/s, maximum flight altitude: 15,000 m, maximum flight range: 3,210 km, armament: stationary - four 20-mm Pontiak M3 guns , suspension - up to 3190 kg of payload, including nuclear bombs Mark 7, Mark 28, Mark 38, Mark 43.
